Belief in yourself and your abilities plays a crucial role when you start off something on your own. The fact is there would be hundreds of naysayers, and despite everything, you need to keep your positivity and self-belief intact.

If you look around and check any random list of 10, 20 or 15 most successful entrepreneurs from around the world, you will notice that one fundamental fact that kind of united them in their journey towards success is the absolute and unflinching belief in their capabilities even when others doubted it. They all keep asking you to believe in yourself even if everybody around you is against you and your goals. As Elon Musk once said,

“When something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favor.”

Not just him, but most others that you see today who have relatively made their name to the list of successful entrepreneurs have all at some point in time learnt to take forward their mission even in the face of extreme negativity. Though this does not refer to not paying heed to possible red flags in the way forward rather, on the contrary, it is about taking cognizance of the potential road blocks and trying to overcome them constructively to reach a certain goal.

If you believe in yourself and your goals and you don’t give up on yourself, everything you need to become a successful entrepreneur and become rich and financially free, will come to you finally and one day you will have everything you need to reach your destination. You will fail at the beginning but your failures will give you the mental condition the you need to have to succeed.

Failure Is A Stepping Stone To Success

A cardinal step in this would be to put up a brave front even in the face of failure and not buoyed down by it. Keep believing yourself as an entrepreneur even if you fail thousands of time.

Think about how Henry Ford went on to build the iconic Ford Motors. At one point of time, he was known to be an intelligent but failed engineer who was such a perfectionist that in his commitment towards making perfect products, he was invariably late in his deliveries. But that did not deter him, and in fact, his later success is based on these early failures. These experiences taught him many important lessons in terms of balancing perfection and deadlines as a successful entrepreneur.

Probably a lot of us never even heard of his first product the Quadricycle, his first company Detroit Automotive and in the history books, it has gone down as utter failures on his part. But he did not lose hope, didn’t give up that simply and continued to believe in himself.

Despite his tarnished reputation and no financial backers, he kept his search on and eventually met Alexander Malcomson, and soon enough he rolled out the first ever batch of Model A. Distribution and business matters plagued Ford in his earlier ventures, and that is why he roped in James J Couzens.

There were many problems in the automobiles thus produced and mechanics were sent practically every place where they were sold, but Ford looked forward to these feedbacks and started incorporating them in future production. In fact, it took five more years and countless other failures before Ford Motor rolled out that perfect piece called, Model T and came to be recognized as the greatest motor company in the world then. As Henry Ford said,

“Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.”

Concentrate On the Positive Aspects

Perhaps there is a very important lesson to learn in that Henry Ford experience. Often as humans, we get stuck to the negative elements and begin losing faith. The idea is we need to take them as feedback, the way Henry Ford did it and made it the stepping stone to creating the perfect Model.

Take each day as it comes and learn to count your wins and your blessings more than what set you back or in what aspect your failed. After all, it is this positive mindset that will provide you with the strength to sit up again after a bad fall and take up the challenge once again. These failures and trying one more time helps you to believe in yourself more and finally build the self-confidence you need to become a great entrepreneur you always loved to be.

Also, just remembering the positive elements and achievements that you have had over the last so many months and years will often make you happier than you imagined you would be. It makes you again want to go back to work while you believe in yourself more, and start afresh on a clean set without the memories of the past failures hampering your output and derailing your commitment to excel and make a difference the way you envisaged. Dogged perseverance is also often times all about a positive perspective.

A Dialogue With Yourself to Believe in Yourself More

The motivation of your inner self is a great factor. Often just by talking to yourself as a true champion, you can address your inner most fears and motivate yourself to achieve bigger and better goal. The power of positive conviction is often underestimated, and its ability to shun self-doubt and negative thoughts is absolute. The point is if you are not convinced about yourself and you don’t believe in yourself enough, you will never be able to convince others about your abilities and potential. Most times, it is your belief in your abilities that oozes out as confidence when you are speaking to others, and as a result, they believe in you.

Motivating yourself also has got to do a lot with believing in yourself, your inner potential and constantly reminding yourself more than anybody about these core essentials. Remember you will only be able to appreciate your inner potential in hindsight truly. That is why perhaps the core mantra to move forward is to absolutely keep a tunnel focus and walk ahead with what you set out to achieve and constantly reminding yourself that yes, you can. It kind of limits the scope of self-doubt.

Conclusion

Steve Jobs has always been known as an inspirational speaker. He once said that

“You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down.”

The idea is an entrepreneur becomes an entrepreneur mostly because they believe they can more than anyone or anybody telling them about it. While failure is part of the growing up process, to learn your lessons and move ahead is the cardinal point that differentiates very successful entrepreneurs from underachievers. Never let that spark within you die down and stop believing in yourself. Remember to keep going in the face of adversity is the mark of a true winner, an absolute entrepreneur.

Good luck 🙂
