Are Moving Averages Effective in Higher Time Frames?
Higher time frames like daily, weekly and monthly are used for swing trading. Can moving averages be employed?
I think moving averages is very effective in all forex time frame.

You use it when short moving average crosses long term moving average,when short term crosses long term to above is uptrend and vice versa.
Also what are the configurations of the moving averages that are needed for successful trading with higher time frames?
There are articles on this site about moving averages and this is the basis for bollinger bands that the team use on their charts. Find the articles on bollinger bands and there is also an article explaining MACD.

Moving averages are only effective on long time frames . you cannot trade moving averages on 5,15,30 and 1hour time frames and be successful.

Moving average is effective in any timeframe when the market is trending. But, when the market is in choppy state, then mobing average will be no use.
Moving averages is a good trading indicator. I think putting 20 moving average indicator works in all time frame, but, our mentor said that monthly time frame is the king, so I believe that using the moving indicator in higher time frame will work better.
