At What Point in Life Do We Deem Ourselves Good Enough?
We all want to be the best version of ourselves but when is the point we actually stop, step back and decide we are good enough? Do we ever get there or do we get obsessed with chasing something we know we cant achieve.
Im personally always chasing the next goal on my list. Will I ever stop? I dont know. Im sure my priorities will change over time
After winning a competition in a group eg being the first in 1000 metres race, one feels he is good enough
Attaining financial freedom after sometime one also feels is good enough .
Human beings have greed by nature. I think one can ever feel satisfied with themselves. People will always strive to be better than where they are, no wonder, the people we see and call “Rich” are more greedy than the poor. They even want to take from the poor.
When we are able to pass the targets and expectations that we have set for ourselves.
Life is about setting goals or targets for ourselves and we strive daily to achieve those goals. After achieving them, we set higher targets for ourselves. This is the mindset of great achievers.
In life, there’ll always be somebody better than you. You may feel that you can and should be better than them. If you still have the energy and the means to improve, you’ll set yourself a new target. A time will come when you won’t even be able to take care of yourself , that’s when you’ll stop fighting and throw in the towel.
I think achievers by their very nature never deem themselves as good – they always strive for better
I felt to be good enough when I conquer my fears about certain things that later turned to very good for me.
I am trying not to sit back and rest on my laurels. I am sure that when I am not capable to chase my dreams and goals I will sit back (if I am able to) and look at my life and assess my results.
Human beings are never satisfied with what they have, they always expect more.
This is my biggest weakness, I always want to have more and this leads me sometime to loose all or a portion of what I’ve already have.
My second opinion is that, never ever deem yourself good enough, there’s always a chance for improvement.
Billionaires always want more billions, the ones they have acquired are not good enough. They always desire more and work to get more. In economics, we were taught that human wants are insatiable.
Spot on Nnaemeka Victor, people always want more – its human nature always striving to get to the next level whether thats millions, billions, trillions etc
The urge to get more will always be there…until the final moment.
Yes humans will never be satisfied with what they have. This why everybody is struggling every day to get target. Then another, after that another again until he die.
I see myself as good enough when I have fulfill my goals in life.
I don’t consider that atall, I will always work to be better than where I’m, going forward..
Hi Kenneth, I don’t feel the same way. When set goals are achieved, you don’t stop there, we are supposed to set more goals.
Very interesting question I must say. I often wonder myself when human beings will be satisfied with themselves? We live in a world full of interesting things and its our human nature to look and wonder and if we find it interesting enough we want it besides that we as human beings are constantly in search of our purpose and often we measure these purposes with our level of success and the more success we have the more we want things so when will true self satisfaction come and when is enough enough to be truly satisfied with yourself as a person? I guess us humans need to remember to be humble sometimes and appreciate the smaller moments and achievements as well as our successes maybe satisfaction will follow soon after because you every time you have fallen you got up and survived the curveballs of life.
Maybe at some point in future after achieving massive success in life, earning like passive income of $200,000 a month, one can probably say I’m good enough.
According to economics, human wants are insatiable. The desire to want or achieve more would always be there
For instance, we can observe this in the Pacman scoreboard. Ahmad has always been surpassing his records. His current score is not good enough for him.
I also deem my self good enough when things are working as planned for me no stopping
I think when we succeed in realizing our targets and our dreams so far can even exceed them. Besides that, our ability to help people.
I always taught being a great man, and standing out to take my responsibility has the head of the family
I like your answer, Kenneth.
Being a good father and husband is the moment that we can say that we have been good enough. No greater achievement for a man than being a great father to his children and a great husband to his wife. And of course, being a good son to his parent.
