⚡️Do You Think It Has Been a Digital Class Division Between People That Masters Digital Tools and Platforms and Those Who Don’t Are Able to Use the Net?

In a modern society digital tools and platforms are used for most connections between people and public service departments, banks, insurance companies and all other tasks you have to solve or buy in your daily life.  Our mobile phone is also a personal computer. Digital platforms are now in use everywhere.  When you shall have money from your bank account you have to use an ATM, pay your bills can only be done on the net.  In this corona time people work from their home offices,  children get their education at home on the net.  You have to be educated and trained to master all the things you have to solve on the net.  This situation divides people who are able to use all the digital tools and those who are not trained to do so.  Specially older people have a gap to close to take part in the modern society and will be in danger for falling behind or they have to be helped with all the daily tasks.  Do you think it has been a digital class division between people that masters digital tools and platforms and those who don’t are able to use the net?

Yes, Mr Steinar. It is similar to those in the real world where there is a division between a group of people who mater a particular tool and another group of people who master another tool. On the internet, there are people who are natural users of tools and medias. I think you are right when saying that there is a class division.

Absolutely right, it has been a division, and old people are really suffering from this modernism, things are not as usual.the use of digital tools has created a deep gap between old generation and new generation.

The division is obvious. Some people are not able to use internet and it’s tools especially the old and those living in rural areas where eccessbility is a challenge.

I am a little confused by the question. Can you please clarify

Steinar Kloverod replied 1 month ago

Hi Edward,
I just mean that people that not are educated in using digital tools have problems to solve their daily tasks in a modern society that use digital tools everywhere. Many old people have problems with digital tools and need help when they shall pay bills on the net, or filling out forms from the authorities. This gap creates a new class division.

It is definitely a challenge for people who can’t use digital tools to do tasks that we sometimes take for granted. The divide is huge and a difficult mission to catch up. To make matters worse the pace at which evolution takes place is breathtaking and overwhelming for the poor individuals to keep up with.

Ah yes I understand now. People here are still able to negotiate their normal lives as we are not completely digital. My mother for example refuses point blank to do anything digital and still does things the way she is used to. It will take a long time for people to completely go digital.

Yes Edward, I agree with you. It is not easy for elder people without education or practice in using digital tools.

Mr Steinar, even those who are educated have lot of problems to deal with nowadays technology and development. I’m telling you i have seen many elders that can read, and write but can’t log in into their facebook accounts.some have problems to make a phone call on WhatsApp.
