👥Do You Think the Current Youths Are Still on Track?
Currently, the young generation or the youth are causing more destruction than good. This is with reference to Africa and my county specifically. We used to hear about young men and women who abused alcohol and drugs far away in developed countries. But, with modernity that is spreading like wild fires, we are seeing the same vice already here in Africa and the whole of developing world. During eighties and nineties when I was growing up, drugs in my country wasn’t even being mentioned as a challenge faced by the youths, reason being that it was not an issue because it never existed. But currently drugs are even being used in schools, homes etc. especially by the youth. When you analyze this trend, you realize that it’s even going upward. But, in most cases it involves the youth or the young generation. So, do you think the current youths is on the right track? What’s your opinion on this?
Jackson unfortunately I feel the same as you I do not think the youth of today is on the wright track substance abuse is in fact on the increase and will most likely continue to happen as I think these kind of things have become much more accessible and common for youth to find trough out town and like you say it is even found in schools lately however I do not just think it is substance abuse alone that is the problem but many things contributing to our troubled youth of today. Manners do not even mean the same things in todays age and it is become increasingly hard to meet a well mannered young person. Unfortunately respect has also left our youth of today. Just look at the things some teachers have to endure I do not how they do it. Can you imagine talking to an adult the way this generation does. Getting back to the substance abuse that is taking place I think our youth of today feel it is cool to drink with friends and I think by the time they actually realize there might be a problem it is too late. Maybe we are also giving them too much freedom to partake in these activities.
There must be a way to fix our troubled youth of today and I think it is going to have to start with us we are allowing them to do to many things that lead to the exposure of unwanted things to them without our knowledge. We need to bring in the rains and maybe start to introduce certain things at certain ages or at least have their activities a bit more monitored.
It is very important for teens to experience life lessens and so forth but there must be a reason for things to get increasingly bad and I firmly believe we have the power to change that by enforcing more control over our teens lives as much as they may hate it. Teens and or youth are not adults yet and have lots to learn and they certainty do not listen so action has to be taken. Maybe we are just giving them to much freedom that is not appreciated anymore but expected hence why the utter disregard to our warnings and the only thing I can think of to stop it is to bring in the rains and disciplining some more until the responsibility that comes with freedom is acknowledged and accepted. Being young and youthful does not mean you are entitled to be wild and reckless.
I think the problem is all around the world and I really think that it depends so much on he influences that young people have in their life and then to some degree it really depends on how they have been raised.
I have a young daughter and I am a little concerned about what she will do when she is a little older but at the end of the day there is little I am able to do. I am sure it is a worry for all parents.
You are right Edward, I’m also abit concerned about my young daughters. But likewise I can’t do much about it.
In my country, young people have a big contribution. There are good and bad. Several cases were found that young people have bad things here, but also very many who have good things and creativity and proud achievements
Ad you are right, it’s a two way street. We have those that are contributing positively to the community and others that are wasted.
I think young people who make excellent contributions should be rewarded and honored, Jackson.
What do you think?
Young people are not on track, many Young Man and women are involved in drugs and alcohol drinking, they are influenced by bad people they frequent .
Ad you are right. They are role models for the youth, they are inspiration to the young generation.
Some are on track while some are not on track.
Every body are struggling to better their life’s
They are on track. Whether the the help of the government or not, they will push ahead of them.
I think the government needs to fully support the young generation who excel and support them to achieve.
What do you think?
What is the attitude of the government in your country towards young people who are outstanding or have problems with the law?
Not only government but parents and youth themselves. We are not on good tracks, we need lot of support from the government and parents to put us on tracks.
It was also problem with abuse of alcohol and drugs when I grow up in the 1960’ies. I think it has been the same with young people all the time since then. It is though a minority that practise it, but it is often so loud that you get the impresion of a big problem. I think the majority of young people today are very occupied with school and education. We must remember that it is a competition between young people today to get the best grades or results in school and university and the best jobs. They are aware of that they cannot use alcohol and drugs to achieve this. Of course it is also people that of different reasons fell outside of school and job market. They are more exposed for the problems we are talking about.
I think the support from the government and family is very important for the young generation to have achievements in all fields
True, government intervention is very critical in naturing the young generation into the right direction.
