🎓Does Performance in School/ Class and Success in Life Have Any Correlation?
When I was a child growing up, I used to admire some of my peers that used be bright in classroom. I mean, the ones that used to perform well at the end of exams, because they look intelligent to me. I used to think that, they will succeed in their lives after schooling. Even other members too, always wanted to associate with such brilliant peers. As time went on, we studied and finished those levels and parted ways. Others continued with studies while others went different ways altogether. We did not meet again to see what we have become so far. But, I guess like how life is, some have gone on to become successful in life, while others are still fighting with life, like the way things usually go in life. However, I for one, usually believed that, intelligent people in classroom will go on to live a very successful life even after classroom and beyond? I used to believe that they will become successful in every they go to. Do you think this right? What is your take on this question?
I am sorry to say I disagree I am still in contact with some of my peers and some of them where even in the schools top 10 learner list with the highest allocation of marks achieved and of course the doing well in sports as well many are still fighting life and have not made it yet and then again some of the same group of people have made their successes and achievements. Yes good marks can open many doors after school but I think some have a harder time at adjusting to life after school and I feel that is what makes the differences in ones success story. So I do not think it is a matter of intelligence seeing as not all my peers have made it as of yet I think it is a matter of adjustment and being able to handle the curveballs life troughs at us. Making smart adult choices and accessing your situations and looking at all options before decisions are made is more important to me than a previously good performance in school seeing as circumstances change and adaptability to current situations contributes more to ones success in my opinion.
I totally agree with you, the performance at school are not necessarily the same performance in life. There are many people who were very smart at the top of list in their classes but some of them have struggled to succeed in life. Remarkable marks at school don’t mean life will be easier for you to make it quickly. After class there is another battle only those who apply determination, persistence and hard working can make it.
The circumstances change completely when you leave school.
I think the success of a person in life really depends on the attitude of the individual and does not really depend on the level of their education.
It is a little difficult question to answer because I don’t see any clear line hear. You can have good results in school and university, but don’t manage to get a stabile joblife and private life. I have seen examples that people not so clever in school change very much when they are grown ups and for instance starts again with a higher education and after have finished their new education gets a job based on this education. Such an achievement is also very good for the private life.
You are right Steinar, thanks for the great insight into the question.
I totally agree with your Steinar, the correlation doesn’t match most of the time. Many people were not smart at school or at the University, but they have found good job and their life is great and life comfortable, some have never succeed to reach high school but get highest position in their workplace.
I see, there are many who used to perform better in class but have not been able duplicate that in life too.
School and life are different areas, one can have good performance at school and be unable to make it in life and vice versa. I have seen many people who were not intelligent and smart enough at school, but have succeeded in their lives, they have everything, work at a good position and make are free with their family.
School, class and success have a correlation, because through going to school, your success in life is sure.
I think it can work for some people and not for others Kenneth. How do you see?
Well Mr Kenneth, it is true that people who went to school have higher potential to succeed in life, because they have learned something, they have knowledge and some skills that give them advantages, but it is not sure that they will succeed. There are many graduated people who have never made it in life.
School give us knowledge and skills but it doesn’t not guarantee our success.
Very right, going to school and performing better opens one to many opportunities, but succeess in life, I believe is a different story. I have seen people with alot of potential in my studying life, but succeess has remained a dream.
School expose one to success, but there are still those who did not go to school, and they still made it (successful).
Kenneth, it’s possible for one to Succeed even if they did not go to school, however, I think there’s still a dotted line between the two, we were talking about people who went to school and their performance extraordinary. There’s a need to mark a line between a question under discussion and other scenarios. Yes, my father didn’t go to school but I may say that he has Succeeded in life. It’s ok🙂
Performance in school plays a very vital role for success to be achieved easily
Success in life is not very correlated to the performance at school. Many people have succeeded in life but the never went to school.
In many cases, the education system cannot reflect well how the situation in the real world. Thus, having a good school performance often have nothing to do with how a person does later in life. Of course, some people are brilliant. They are smart enough to know the game’s rule in any setting, whether in an educational setting or real life. For those people, the school performance is highly correlated with their success in life. But, that school performance is not the cause of their success, rather their attitude is the cause for both their good school performance and their success in life.
I’m not sure about answering this.
Some of my friends have achievements but find it difficult to get a job, and some of my friends find it easy to find jobs with their achievements.
I think, in my country performance applies a little bit, but it is more applicable if you have family or acquaintances in a company that makes it easy for you to get a job. This is very sad
Thank you Ahmad for your answer, i totally agree with your opinion, some times the school performance can correlate with your success in life but not for all people. There are several people who had good performance at school but didn’t succeed in life.
Anyone can become successful in life, whether through school or not.
Everyone are bound to become success, if you actually work hard for it.
That’s right, Jackson.
Do you also experience it in your country?
How is the situation in your country?
That’s right, Kenneth.
But the percentage of someone who will be successful without education is very small.
Hmmm. In my country it’s worse, you can not get a job if you are not from the tribe that’s ruling. I mean even a high school student from no where can get a well paying job which a university graduate can not get!!!
It happens here!
Mr Jackson, we are experiencing the same here in Gunnea, if you’re not from the president tribe called Malinke.you can’t find a good job, even if your from the greatest university of the world.
I think education is very important.
But the truth is, in my country, having friends or family in a company is the key for them to easily get a job. That’s so unfair to me
I think we need to do something to change the situation Leno. It’ hurting us very much man!
