🛒Have Bought a Poor/Low Quality Product Unknowingly?
In the recent past, many poor/ low quality products have been flowing on the market. Sometimes we inadvertently buy a product and later find out that it’s not fit for the purpose. Many of these products are from Asia and to be specific China and they find their mostly into the African market. There quite many poor quality products in circulation on the market. This is especially so in in Africa where in most cases there’s little or no controls and regulations on sale of such products. I once bought an item ( flat iron) that usually lasts for years, but it only lasted just less than a month. This has happened to quite a number of people according to studies. You can buy an item thinking that it’s genuine but later find out that it’s quality is poor. Has this ever happened to you or anyone you know? How do you feel and react?
Yes, there are several poor quality items in the market, most of them are made in China.
As everybody, i usually feel sad when i buy such poor quality product, because realize that i have just thrown your money for nothing. There are uncountable number of such prouducts in African markets
I rarely get a product that I buy of poor quality. Before buying, I was a perfectionist who chose the item according to the price and quality.
Yes at several occasions. Mostly from online transactions. The actual product is not at same quality as advertised. Once very disappointed because the watch i received is not up the price i paid .
Hi Ramachandran, it looks like you need to look at reviews and store ratings provided by consumers. In Indonesia, this is the basis for the quality of goods in purchase. If it shows a bad value, consumers try not to buy it and can even report the store. How is it in your country?
Ramachadran. It’s indeed very disappointing, it happened to me too on some occasions and I just felt let down. Adharad. It’s very common in Africa where corruption is rampant and fake products easily find their way into the market. But, I think the situation could be different outside Africa where regulations are very stringent.
I think it’s not only in Africa, in Indonesia it’s like that. However, I find that consumers here are very good at buying goods. They can be thorough and know the quality of the item
Never. In truth, I am not a fan of buying things both offline and online. I always plan in advance what I want to buy. So, most of prurcahses meet my expectation.
Hi Ahmad, even though I don’t plan on buying. But I can always buy good quality goods.
Most times I like to buy quality products and there has been times when I have purchased rubbish that looked okay but it was not up to speed. I remember I bought a model locomotive for my son some years ago and it worked for a little while but then it broke and we were unable to fix it.
Edward, looks like you need to pay attention clearly to the items you want to buy before buying them.
I think in some countries standards are adhered to very strictly but rampant corruption in Africa, specifically in my country Uganda allows these fake products on to the market.
Yes colleague, does our government have capacity to test fake products like belts, radios ,and bags.
In my country too, fake goods are easy to get. But I don’t understand how the regulation of these goods can enter in my region.
In my country fake products are very common like clothing, electronics and chairs.when I buy fake product I become unhappy.I will stop going to buy from that shop.
I think the best way to avoid purchasing bad quality products is to look for the review and rating from the previous buyers. Also, make sure to only buy from a credible marketplace that provides an escrow service.
On several occasions, I have involved myself in buying a poor material.
I have bought several poor quality products, specially phones. Most of the time it shipped them back to the seller to change or refund my money back to me .
leno, you are very that you can send those poor quality products back to the sender. Here it’s not possible, once you have bought them, it’s your loss.
Jackson, I think that’s a risk from the consumer. We can feel a huge loss if we receive bad quality.
Adharad, it’s a big loss really and I think to some people, they can get impacted phsycologically because of the loss.
Jackson, obtaining low quality goods is very sad. Moreover, we have paid dearly for it. But, how can we ask the seller for compensation?
adharad, I think unlike in many countries, here we buy most of our supplies in just open market, and it becomes abit difficult to go back and demand for compensation in such a senario.
In my country, there is a law for such situation, if you buy a good in the market, you have 72 hours to maintain it or return it back to the seller to change it or refund you your money ; After 72Hours you can’t return it back. I have
Yes, uncomfortable times .I even bought one few months where I bought sound system that did not last upto 2 months.
keneth, it’s really unfortunate that we have people with such a heart of exploiting people by selling them fake products.
If that’s the case, you have to be careful about buying goods, Jackson, so you don’t get low quality goods
Hi Leno. I just found out that there is a law regarding that. That is very good for protecting consumers
adharad, I try to be very careful everytime I go out shopping nowadays.
That’s how it should be, Jackson. You need to pay attention to purchasing goods. In fact, you need to look for price comparisons and the quality of other items that are similar to the item you want to buy.
But sometimes it can bypass without knowing adharad. Do you know that you can keenly and carefully select a product but after using it for sometime, it turns out to be of poor quality. Under such circumstances you still suffer the loss.
I think the stuff is overused, Jackson. I buy a lot of things that I think are of very good quality. But I used it too much and it was very rude. I think that’s the cause
adharad, you are very right. I have been buy many things of high quality, but this one just comes once in a while.
Jackson, I hope the item you bought this time is of good quality. I hope you have to be more careful in buying things
Yes adharad, I have always bought good quality products, but this comes once in awhile. Why, I always remember it is, because I feel the loss of my money.
I can feel what you feel, Jackson. I am very disappointed when the goods we buy are of poor quality. But we have to be more careful in buying goods in the future so that it doesn’t happen again and you don’t lose your money again
Yes we really feel bad for such situation, spending your money for something that will not be useful. The best solution is to ship it back to the seller and change it .
We should absolutely try as much as possible for this not to happen again.
Many times, especially Chinese made products imported by our people, Nigerians, they will went China and import substandard products.
Hi Kenneth I don’t think all goods from China are of poor quality. But indeed we often find that Chinese products are of poor quality
You’re right, Jackson. We have to be more selective and careful about buying goods. Moreover, buying goods that are cheap
adharad, you are very right, we have got many good quality products from China indeed. Likewise, also poor quality products come from there.
Jackson, right. I think poor quality goods are not only products from China. Many manufactured goods are of poor quality. We can’t justify poor quality goods only coming from China
Ad, true it’s an obsession with China. Everything fake is associated with China here.😥
Have bought substandard products many times Especially products Nigerians imported from China.
In my country you can easily inspect the item’s label to check whether it passed the Bureau of Standards test. If the item fails prematurely, you can lodge a complaint. If it does not have the certification on the label, you don’t have a leg to stand on. You knowingly bought a fake item.
I have no explanation for adharad, but maybe there’s a reason. Because even here in Africa, substanrd products are concocted and put on the market.
Jackson. Maybe because consumers see that at a cheap price we can have the goods. We don’t even have to pay dearly for the things we want. This principle is held by many consumers. What do you think?
You are right adharad, I think it’s one of the many reasons why these products keep finding their way to the market, because many people buy since they affordable.
That is why consumers love Chinese goods. Because they produce a lot of goods at very cheap prices
Ooohh, I see adharad, because majority of the people in the world can not afford expensive things. So, China has a point? Because it’s serving the interests of millions of people.
Hi Adharad, thanks for the suggestion . I need to review more opinions and store /product ratings before think about purchase.
I have no problem with normal store purchase products, its only for online purchased items. From now onwards , i will more careful before order a product. Maybe only order from reputable online apps .
