📈 Is Poverty Related Death and Violence on the Increase?

Is poverty related violence and death on the rise? Everyday, we see stories of people dying at the hands of loved ones going up as result of messing up with little money. In fact, statistics have shown that 245,000 people die in poverty related violence in the US every year. But remember, we are getting these statistics from a well to do country, the US. The situation might be alarming in the in developing countries but we don’t have the statistics for these countries. In my country, the trend is so alarming. Women and children have been the most affected, daily reports of children and women being killed, battered and maimed for ” misusing” as less than $1 are a common occurrence. This has been blamed mainly on poverty. It may also be happening in communities where you stay too, or you have heard or read about it where ever you are. This problem seem to be on the upward trend according to police reports and a statistics, but these police reports are not dependable as they only cover very few case and many more go unreported in developing world. Is this poverty related violence and death on the increase? What’s your opinion?

Yes I believe it is and the figure will only increase. There is always going to be a socio-economic divide and that is just the way of the world. Unfortunately the poverty stricken will always suffer first and unless they can get out their fate is sealed.

Death due to poverty is a concern for all of us. Because they are poor they do not have access to safe water for consumption which causes deadly infectious diseases. Due to poverty people experience malnutrition which leads to death. Due to poverty, people live in unhealthy places that lead to death. Poverty causes people to try to survive by means of violence, such as stealing, killing etc.

Muda quite true. But also the things you list as caused by poverty are not all down to it. Doesnt population control impact the level of poverty and the knock on effect. If you live in a poverty stricken area and suffer from unsafe drinking water, malnutrition, poor living conditions why are you have children? This is only going to compound the situation.

Poverty is not the causes of the increase in death and violence in our country

Poverty has contributed indirectly to the Increase of death and violence in my countries. Most criminals for example came from poor families where they were abandoned to themselves, haven’t got any good education.
Also many deaths are caused by the lack of money to cure the disease or have a good treatment in a good hospital.

Poverty these days is tied to the up tick in crime and violence. Even before the Civic there have always people no matter how the economy is good or bad who just feel that work is the last thing they want to do when they need cash right now.So they will go through any desperate measures to acquire money.Even if they end up ending an innocent persons life for it.It really is a sad commentary.

When you see and read the news you get an impresion that violence and death is increasing in the world.  Much of this is probably related to poverty, but it is not always the answer.
I think this trend is to see both in the developing countries and in the so called rich countries.  Violence is caused by drug wars, robberies and also struggling in the family.

Yes, in my thinking it is increasing exponentially and people should absolutely found ways to reduce violence and poverty.
