Seems like Beijing Is Flexing Its Muscle over Hong Kong
It appears that Beijing is taking control over Hong Kong as recently Beijing passed a resolution to enable Hong Kong lawmakers to expel lawmakers from office without court action. With this resolution Beijing removed four lawmakers from office who were locally elected.
Not long after this Carrie Lam said that “that lawmakers who do not respect China’s sovereignty “cannot genuinely enact the Basic Law so they cannot genuinely perform their duties as legislators.”” (CNN 12/11/2020).
Is this march of the Communist Party and starting with Hong Kong especially after the democracy riots last year?
Beijing and Hong Kong are the same. It is the government of Beijing that run the affairs of the Hong Kong, so I don’t think that Chinese government will be exerting muscle against their subject.
I don’t see it happening because there’s a signed agreement that have autonomy in governance and economy.

Hong Kong has for time in memorial been thinking about self determination but China can not let it happen. Therefore, this flexing if muscles is show of might by China.
