☝️ Should Leaders Practice What They Preach?

It appears in some countries that the nations leaders are telling their people one thing about quarantining after either returning from overseas or after they have had a COVID test.

I know Boris Johnson in the UK quarantined after he found out that he had COVID and he also spent some time in hospital with the virus. Good old Donald in America quarantined reluctantly for a few days after he discovered that he had the virus and was likely he received it from one of his non COVID get togethers.

Scott Morrison who is the PM in Australia is quarantining in his residence in Canberra even though everyone else that comes into the country must quarantine in a nominated hotel. The the leader of the State of NSW went and tested for COVID and the rule for everyone else was to quarantine until the result of the test was received. Oh no Gladys decided that she was above her own rules and went back to work. Mmmm double standards or what??

It’s my wish that they should, but it’s the other way around in most cases. A leader’s word is always taken as the gospel truth. Therefore, if leaders become reckless, they put many people’s lives at a risk. This is because a big percentage of people will try to do what their leaders tell them to do or what they see them doing.

I think high political leaders will not be able to practice the measures aimed for the ordinary citizens. Their presence is important for the public and is crucial for the stability of a nation. Furthermore, they also get medical treatment which is very different than the ordinary citizen. Thus, in the first place, they should not practice the measure in a manner that the ordinary citizen does,

A leader should show example of what he or she preach. But, it not like that in many parts of the world, some countries made laws for the poor and vulnerable people, while them and their families will be violating the same law the made. Like here in Nigeria they made a law to wear mask, but, this law is not applicable to the 1st citizen of nation. Road traffic laws is meant for poor and non influencial, but Police, Army and other law enforcement agencies and politicians break traffic laws and nobody will question them.

I believe that these leaders get the best treatment available … even when quarantined in their own homes. They are the first citizens and they normally get first class treatment.
It has always been like that and shall always be like that. The president’s discomfort is always an emergency.

I feel that if you choose to be a leader you should be aware of your important role you play and can not expect other people to follow the right path and or precautions if a leader fails to adhere to the rules they would like their followers to enforce and or follow so yes I firmly believe that leaders should practice what they preach. In order to enforce the law you need to abide by it as well.

It’s one characteristic of a good leader to practice what they preach, otherwise we see many who are just liars. They say this and do the opposite. They mislead the masses by their words and actions.

Obviously yes. I good leader is first a good example. He must give a way, a road, that followers will follow, unfortenatly it is not performed by many leaders which lead to a non respect of laws and rules they give.

Yes, it is highly recommended that leaders practice what they preach, but, unfortunately, many leaders do a different thing from what they preach.

It is not reasonable to ask people to do something that You a leader can’t do. A true leader is that one who give a good example that people might follow. Africa leaders always do the contrary.

Always a saying that is said yet unfortunately very rarely followed. Leaders should set the example to everyone else to show there are no exceptions to the rule

Ramachandran Suppan replied 2 months ago

Yes, they should follow whatever they preach. I know this rarely happens at anywhere but the leader should follow it. If the leaders themselves could not follow what they preach, how could they expect  their followers to follow them. Its impossible

Really impossible. True leader never preach something and go against it. He must provide direction and guidance for it’s followers. True leader must also be able to say “do as i do” rather than just “do as i say “because he leads by example.

Any leader that don’t do first what he said is not a good leader, and people must not follow him. It is one of the big problem in Africa, many leaders are the first that go against what they preach and condam their followers to respect their rules. They tell us that stealing is forbidden while they steal millions of country’s money for their own purposes. Kind of high crime

The next interesting measure will be how many of the political leaders will have along with their families the new COVID vaccinations when they are released? Surely that must be a strong sign to their people if they do.

If they did, the world would be a better place to live in, but instead, they just milead people well knowing that what they are doing is wrong. God should one day punish them for misleading his people. You know leadership comes from God. It’s a call for duty to serve, but these fools just misuse that position to promote selfish interests by ignoring public interests.

Is normal for a leader to practice what he preach. In fact, that is makes the person a leader. Any person who does not follow what he preach is not a good leader, rather, he is a deciever.

Yes, because a good leader is the set to lead by example. So they should be part in practicing what they have institute… That makes them a good leader

Let’s pray for our African leaders, so that God give them the Heart and fear to do what they preach. 90% of them don’t respect what they preach.

Leaders are expected to lead by example. This is partly because they command a strong support from their masses.Thats why even in Bible ,there is  a verse which says,if one cannot lead his family, how can he lead a church of God.

In order to provide example to their followers and show the encouragement, they should do so. This shows that what they preach is good for them and for all.

In my opinion, the belief of his followers is the main thing. How can anyone trust him if he doesn’t do what he preaches? I thought that if he didn’t do what he preached, he would be lying to himself and everyone. Is that what we deserve to follow again? What do you think?

A politician should practice what they preach. But it seems that their ability to formulate what they preach is far more advance than the ability to put that formulation into practice. However, we could not completely blame them. It is because of their presence doing the political functions in the society that we are doing fine in our life. However, our life may be much easier if they do what they preach.
