Dictatorial governments and systems usually have life-time presidents. I think Saddam Hussein, Hafez Assad, Bashar Assad are among the ones that have the longest period of presidential. Vladimir Putin is doing the same now.

The longest serving President in the world is Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. He is the 2nd president of Equatorial Guinea who served as president for 42 years.
Actually, Paul Biya has been the leader of Cameroon longer than Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, he assume leadership for 45 years. However, of the 45 years in power, he acted as Prime Minister for 7 years (1995-1982), and then as a President from 1982 until now (38 years).

Yes You people are absolutely right. The second president of equatorial Guinea is the longest serving president in the world. Then we have Paul Biya who is still serving, Robert Mugabe did a little bit too. This shows that Africa’s president used to confix the power.

I would call him Paul Biya, the President of Cameroon who has ruled since 1975, although he was at first a Prime Minister, and latter changed to become the President. Then number two is Teodoro Obiang of Equatorial Guinea, who has ruled since 1979.

I don’t really understand about international politics. But in my country Indonesia, President Soeharto is a leader of a country who has served the people for 31 years. Before the constitution of the president’s leadership was changed to 4 years.
