⏰Why Does the Past Look Better Than the Present?
Many times we hear people talking about the good old days. They often talk about all the good things of the past. This has been happening here in my country as I was growing up. But, after growing up, I also make reflections of the past and find good old memories, like the way we celebrated Christmas, Easter, wedding parties and the like. All in all, the past seen better than the present. What’s your opinion about this?
That feeling is something that everyone feels familiar with. Changes in his life that make him feel that the past is better than the present. Maybe they also reminisce about their special past they felt
adharad, I also think like that, but we always hear people, even older ones, telling about the good old days in schools, in services, and many other things that used to be in existence. What do you think about this?
The feeling is caused by reluctance to change. What you are used to becomes your comfort zone and change seems to be a challenge and an obstacle difficult to accept and adopt. Then, the ”good old days” are seen as the best thing that ever happened as compared to the new ”difficult” task that needs to be done right now.
Jackson. I think it was a time when they were very happy. I think they missed it because they did such a great and very memorable thing that he can’t do over and over at this point. Their memories of the past are beautiful, and they cannot get that feeling today with different people or with the same person because of completely different ages, places and events.
I agree with you, David. The past that is too beautiful and memorable is a time where you really enjoy it and you cannot repeat it in the present.
I agree with you guys. You have a very good insight into the situation.
I can’t really explain why, since I was much younger, They told us that Nigeria will be better, yet today everything is bad.
Kenneth, those are promises of Politicians, they always promise the best and deliver nothing. It’s the same case with us here in Uganda.
Because the past event would have been a better a opportunity for to accomplished my goals
Because the past event would have been a better a opportunity for to accomplished my goals
But in all this, the past still remains the past while the present remains the present
That’s nature for man ,he always praises the past and hates present, its psychological to all people.
Eli, I have had time to sit an elder, he was telling me how things used to be good during those days. I feel it’s real!
We can’t compare this two people and find a best answer, things are very different two compared them. The past is gone, let experience the present and move forward in the future.
My past does not look better than my present and future. My life is like a shining light that shines brighter and brighter every day.
Kenneth, why do I say that the past looks better? When I talk to the old folks Who lived in the days of post independence, they will tell you. In my country during those days people who worked for the government were offered free house, transport, free meals we available for students in schools, at our oldest university in this country, students were paid allowences while they studied, to name but a few. But these days all these things are no more. Do you think the situation is any better than in the past? I don’t think so.
When you talk about the past you only remember the good things that have happened in your life. In our present life we don’t know what the next day brings you of good or bad situations and experiences.
Thank Steinar for this analysis, I agree with your opinion, but I also think that it’s good to always remember the past good things and forget about the bad one so that we remain with good memories. These good memories from the past also act as an inspiration or motivation to work harder.
Kenneth, presently, jobs have been lost but somewhere afew years back many people had their jobs and they had their pay every month. Don’t you think that looks better than today? What do you think?
Things happen according to their time, the past is gone, yes there were good and remarkable things that we experienced and also bad things. Yes it is true that the covid19 pandemic has made the world difficult to live and enjoy, but nothing last forever, the best is coming, let us be positive and move forward.
