Why Is Russia Not Congratulating Biden on His Victory?

I think it is unbeneficial to Russia and China to congratulate Biden when Trump is on its way on taking legal actions to the Supreme Court. Maybe, both Beijing and Moscow calculated that the probability of Trump winning the Supreme Court is high. Thus they are very careful on congratulating Biden, since it means legitimizing Biden on presidency that he is yet to win.
 
On the other hand, Congratulating Biden before Trump conceded or before the official election result is dangerous both for China and Russia. Since they might be accused of taking side to Biden and intervening the election to beat Trump.

It definitely true that Biden is a big threat to Russia than Trump. As usual Democrat’s governments usually give hard time to Russia, this could be the reason.

The insistence of Biden for America to resume the democratization of former Soviet states does not sit well with the Kremlin. In recent months, pro-democracy protests have rocked Belarus, Kyrgystan, and Georgia. Biden criticized Trump’s silence about the violence Belarus meted against pro-democracy activists.

Sending congratulatory message is wrong when Biden is still a projected winner.

I think they are waiting for supreme court verdict before congratulating him.

Russia do not congratulate Biden because they knew that Biden has not been officially announced the president elect.

There is way too much history between Putin and Trump and his family.

Putin has finally did it, he was the last president of a Power country to congratulate the victory of Bidden.

I think Russia finally did congratulate Mr Biden.

Trump and Putin do have a long history. Of course there is a deeper reason why putin delayed hia congratulation for Biden apart from the legal reason. The fatc that finally Putin congratulated Biden shows that he has been politically acknowledged as US President.

I have to agree with you there Ahmad, the two had something going on. Putin, like many Republicans, had hoped the election results would be overturned.

Ahmed. I Putin showed some arrogance in a like his counterpart Mr Trump. He should have known that the elections which were won by Biden with such a landslide victory was going to be very difficult to overturn in the current United States setup.

Because they don’t want him to win. To them, they believe that, he doesn’t have good leadership qualities.

Putin is a smart person, he wasn’t sure about the results of the vote, and would not be in the fence. He has a good relationship with Trump, he could not congratulate Biden at the beginning.

Everything start with a good relationship, if you don’t have a good relationship with someone, you probably don’t care about whatever happens to him some time. It seems that Putin and bidden didn’t have good relationship in the past.

Putin has already congratulated Biden after the electoral votes were decided. Putin was holding back from congratulating Biden because Trump has yet to concede. Politically, it was a sign that there was still a political and legal process in the US election. That is the ethic.

Its good Russia has also congratulated Biden upon his victory ,i do not see why Russia does not congratulate president elect ,to me USA and Russia are no longer competitors in  world politics and international trade economy.

Because the electoral college did not broadcast the winner of the November election.

They are not happy that biden wins the election. They wanted Trump to win.

It’s not their concern ,they can congrats him or not, it depends on their relationship in the past.

Leno, I think it’s important that countries have good relationship with one another. It’s very degrading in building relationships when such a thing happens. It’s increases tensions among nations and even impact on currency and stock markets.
